Dare County Schools 2009 on-time graduation rate of 90.2% is the best in the state of North Carolina.  At a Graduation Rate awards reception in Raleigh on October 12, Board Chair David Oaksmith, Superintendent Dr. Sue Burgess, Director of Secondary Instruction Nancy Griffin, and Dare County Alternative School Principal Dr. Richard Martin were recognized at the Department of Public Instruction by NC Superintendent Dr. June Atkinson and former Governor James B. Hunt.
