Kindergarten Registration

Published Jun 1, 2011

Only children who will turn 5 years old on or by August 31 are eligible to attend kindergarten for the upcoming school year. To register, please bring your child! and the following:

> The child's Social Security card.

> Proof of residence of parent(s) (or court-appointed guardian) include driver's licenses with current address, voter registration card, or NC DMV ID. For questions relating to guardianship, contact the school principal.

> A certified copy of the child's birth certificate, which can be obtained from the county or state health department where the child was born.

Do make plans to have your child's immunizations up to date and a current health assessment before he or she begins kindergarten. Although not required at time of registration, please bring if available; and keep in mind that an updated immunization record is required before your child begins school. Physical examination forms are available at Dare County schools, area doctors' offices, the Dare County Department of Public Health, and on the Dare County Schools website. Enter "forms" in the search box and choose student forms. Parents whose children do not have a regular physician can get health assessments and immunizations through the Dare County Department of Public Health (475-5003).

If not possible to register a child for kindergarten on the date available, or for those attending the schools below with registration dates that have passed,  please call the school to make arrangements as soon as possible following the registration date.
