Heads Up - New Immunization Requirements
The NC Commission for Public Health has made changes to the rules regarding vaccination for school-aged children. Effective January 2008, the administrative rule, 10A NCAC 41A.0401, was changed adding requirements for a booster dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and acellular pertussis). These changes will go into effect beginning with the 2008-2009 school year. It is required that all students entering the 6th grade on or after August 1, 2008 will have this booster dose of Tdap if five years or more have passed since the last dose of tetanus/diphtheria toxoid.
