Here, GO FAR students at the start of the GO FAR 5K race in the Town of Southern Shores, May 2011. GO FAR (Go Out For A Run) promotes healthy eating habits, physical fitness, character building and the benefits of staying fit and healthy. ASEP also offers yoga weekly to its students as a part of its childhood obesity prevention initiatives.
Quality After School Care for Students

Dare Schools offers quality after‑school care for students in its After School Enrichment Program until 6 pm each school day. Rates begin at $45 per week for families with one child in the program; $70 for two, and $90 for three. The four programs ‑ at First Flight Elementary, Kitty Hawk Elementary, Nags Head Elementary, and Manteo Elementary ‑  have all earned the highest 5‑star rating on the School‑Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS).

ASEP offers homework assistance, structured and free play activities, arts and crafts, guest speakers and occasional field trips.  Each school day until 6PM, ASEP creates an environment where children can feel safe, while providing an opportunity for academic and social growth. The program uses resources made available through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation "Empower Me" curriculum.

ASEP GO FAR (Go Out For A Run) program is now underway, and will conclude with its very own 5K road race. GO FAR promotes healthy eating habits, physical fitness, character building and the benefits of staying fit and healthy. Students train twice weekly after school for eight weeks to prepare to run a 5K road race or one mile fun run.  All Dare County elementary and middle school students are eligible to participate.  ASEP also offers yoga weekly to its students as a part of its childhood obesity prevention initiatives.

Dare 's ASEP is staffed by twenty‑eight full and part‑time employees, and serves over 400 children. For more information on Dare County Schools After‑School Enrichment Program, or to register for participation, parents can contact the elementary school where their child attends.

Please note: The After School Enrichment Program is not available on Saturday makeup days.
Parents should plan for their childrens' care as they would on any other Saturday after school is dismissed mid-day.
