Make All-State Honors Bands
Three Dare County band students made the All-State Honors Band after auditions in Greenville over the first weekend in February: First Flight Middle School sixth grader Sawyer Sanchez, 2nd chair trumpet (Sawyer also won a seat in the state jazz band), here with FFMS band director Hollie Writtenberry; Manteo High School sophomore Gage Clawson, 11th chair trumpet, here with MHS band director (and Manteo Middle School Teacher of the Year) Larry Keeler; and First Flight High School sophomore Morgan Leatherwood, 1st chair oboe, with FFHS band director Bob Ebert. The All State Honors Clinic and Concert is scheduled for May 4-6 at UNC-Chapel Hill.
