Recap: February 24 Meeting
The Dare County unit of the North Carolina Retired School Personnel met February 24 at Grits Grill in Nags Head. Retired school personnel serve as community service leaders in area schools, neighborhoods, and the community-at-large. There were 16 members and guests in attendance at the February meeting. After a short business meeting a raffle took place to raise funds for future scholarships for Dare County students. $91 dollars was collected. The subject of the meeting was Sharing Leisure Travel and Travel Tips.
The next meeting is scheduled to take place at Ortegaz Grill in Manteo on March 24th at 11:30. There is no topic specified at this time. All retired school personnel are welcome.
The Dare County Unit of Retired School Personal meets throughout the school year to:
> serve as a local unit of the North Carolina Retired School Personnel of the North Carolina Association of Educators;
> help retired school personnel maintain identity with the teaching profession and further the cause of education;
> help advance the interests and welfare of the retirees in the state and local community;
> foster good fellowship among retired school personnel through social and educational networking;
> cooperate with the North Carolina retired school personnel;
> cooperate with the National R.T.A. by promoting membership, legislation, national projects, and programs of the National Association;
> serve as community service leaders in schools, neighborhoods, and the community-at-large; and
> promote lifelong learning and personal wellness.
Membership: All retired school personnel from any state or federally–sponsored school is welcome to join The Dare County Unit of Retired School Personnel.

Meeting Schedule: Members meet eight times a year on the fourth Wednesday of each month. A luncheon or breakfast meetings is held at various restaurants from Currituck to Hatteras Island.
