District Classified Employee of the Year
Gene Everett of Dare County Schools Facilities Maintenance Department is the district's 2010 Classified Employee of the Year.
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sue F. Burgess made the announcement at a dinner sponsored by ACE Hardware stores of Kitty Hawk, Nags Head, Manteo and Avon to honor the school system's 16 Classified Employees of the Year on February 18, at Pamlico Jack's.
Director of Facilities and Maintenance Jim Winebarger introduced Everett. Winebarger said that Everett demonstrates the highest possible level of dedication to the district, and that he is willing to help anyone, anytime, any place.
"Gene is a key contributor to the maintenance and improvement of Dare County Schools. His work to keep our facilities the best they could be, under whatever the circumstances, has indeed touched all staff and students.
"His work has impacted teaching and learning in Dare County for over twenty-five years," noted Winebarger. "Gene is known as a friend to all."
Everett, a native of Beaufort County, has lived and worked in Dare County for more than forty years.
