Dare County Schools

On Saturday, December 12 Dare County Schools' newest professionals came together for the first of three support/training sessions for beginning teachers.  Coordinated by Personnel Director Trip Hobbs, teachers opt to attend the sessions to network, participate in workshops to enhance their craft, and discuss best practices. Coffee and a hot breakfast is provided for attendees, who are looking forward to the next session on Saturday, January 30.  On the 12th, presenters included Manteo Middle School business teacher Steve MacDonald who spoke on behalf of the NC Association of Educators; Nags Head Elementary School AIG teacher Kathey Heinrich who presented on the nature and needs of gifted children; Nags Head Elementary School Technology Facilitator Cathy Evanoff who gave an overview of several new google applications; and First Flight High School English teachers Sharon Crane and Amy Larson who presented on literature circles.  All sessions are held in the First Flight High School media center; here,(standing) Evanoff and Hobbs.
