Dare County Schools on-time graduation rates for 2009 and 2010 were best among the state's 115 districts in back to back years.
For the past three years, Dare's rate has exceeded the 90% threshold.

Do you know?
First Flight High School's Class of 2010 achieved the highest on‑time graduation rate in the state for classes with 200‑299 graduates at 95.9%.

Do you know?
Dare County Schools met 97% of federal testing targets under the No Child Left Behind legislation for school year 2009-2010.
In 2011, when the required proficiency levels were adjusted upward significantly, Dare Schools achieved 133 of 144 targets prescribed by the federal
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) standards, for a success rate of 92%.

Each of  Dare County's ten schools met or exceeded the state’s expectations for academic growth in a single school year in back to back years, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.

Dare County students' participation rates and average scores on the 2011 SAT are second best in North Carolina for the third year in a row!

Dare County ranks as third highest in the state for AP participation rates and scores.

Do you know?
Our five elementary schools raised more than $28K  - of the district-wide total of $35,268 - for the American Heart Association in the Jump Rope For Heart Project in 2009-2010. That's a $3,000 "jump" from the previous year! And, in back to back years, Dare Schools was recognized by the American Heart Association for having the highest student participation rate among school districts in Jump Rope for Heart and Hoops for Heart in a six-state region. Shout out to PE teachers for making this happen!
